Roots of Change

Gandhi once said, “We must be the change we want to see in the world.”  In a culture growing less civil and more violent, change often feels impossible.  But there are some things we can learn about ourselves, our faith and our relationships that can radically empower us to deal with the issues facing our world.

The heart of this process is in a weekly meeting with about a dozen other people.  The group meets for two hours a week for 12 weeks.  The first part of the meeting consists of participants sharing their experiences of the past week over a meal.  Everyone gets a chance to talk about what is going on in their lives.  The second hour is spent learning and discussing the new information.

The material for this group is drawn from the scholarship of theologians, psychologists and philosophers like Walter Wink, Silvan Tomkins, Donald Nathanson and Sam Keen.  Each group is led by a trained facilitator.  A quarterly seminar will also be provided to deepen participants’ exposure to the material and the rich relationships that will grow in the group.

For many people the ROC group has been a life-changing experience.  Become a part of one of these learning communities and you may discover, like many of our current participants, that it will provide a balancing element to life that you didn’t know you were missing.  For more information on Roots of Change visit
